May Day Statement of the International Socialist Center "Christian Rakovsky" and RedMed: Long live May Day! Forward to destroy imperialist, Zionist, and fascist menaces on humanity! For Peace, Bread and Freedom forward to the world socialist revolution!

The working class and the people the world over face May Day at a highly critical juncture. World War and fascism, those twin menaces arising from the advanced decay and crisis of global capitalism, weighing on humanity, are at the gates. It is the international and decisive mobilization of the working class with its revolutionary organizations at the head of the oppressed popular masses alone that could save humanity from the brink of the abyss it stands.

Imperialism is forcing humanity towards a world war at an accelerating speed. The latest aid package of US imperialism to hotspots of global conflagration, just shy of 100 billion US dollars, only proves that this provocative drive of world imperialism will not stop unless we forcefully put an end to it. That package of 95 billion USD seeks to bring about much-needed achievements in NATO imperialism’s war against Russia in Ukraine, to render Zionist Israel victorious in its genocidal war against Palestinian people and its resistance organizations, to arm Taiwan even further to serve as the outpost of Western imperialism in Asia against China and all the peoples of the Indo-Pacific. Workers of the world have no option but to unite their forces to forcefully end imperialist aggression around the world.

2024 is also poised to be the year of a fascist onslaught on a global scale. After four years of Joseph Biden's administration in the US, Donald Trump and his MAGA movement are making an even stronger return. Trump, after handing a decisive defeat to his contenders for the leadership of American right-wing and fascism, is gearing up to take power, against which the Democratic Party seems helpless. In Europe, in the upcoming European elections, proto-fascist, disguised and openly fascist parties  are all but certain to score their biggest victories yet, where RN in France, Fratelli d’Italia and PVV in the Netherlands likely being the first parties in their countries, and their fellow counter-revolutionaries in the European Conservatives and Reformists (ECR) and Identity and Democracy (ID) Europarliamentary groups getting big chunks of the vote in countries such as Spain, Portugal, Germany and Austria. In India, Narendra Modi is expected to score another electoral victory and likely become the longest-governing Indian PM since Jawaharlal Nehru.

The protracted global capitalist crisis spreading hunger, unemployment and social despair, combined with the crisis of legitimacy of the mainstream bourgeois and reformist parties, and above all the lack of a strong and convincing left alternative opens the road to fascist forces. With fascism strengthening by leaps and bounds, we have no option but to make every factory, every university, and every neighborhood a bastion of antifascist struggle.

Yet, as usual, the struggle of people shows us the way forward. In Palestine, the resistance forces proved that Zionist Israel’s total war, conducted with the unanimous support of imperialism for months, is utterly unable to defeat them. Palestine’s resistance and its people’s resilience find a most loyal ally in the streets of the world, including in the belly of the imperialist beast. Militant struggle of the student youth in the US, on the campuses of Columbia, Yale, MIT, UCLA, New York universities, among others, from California to the East Coast heralds a new Vietnam moment for the American youth.

Fascism, for its part, finds a redoubtable enemy in the militant working class. In Argentina, Javier Milei’s Thatchero-fascism found underestimated resistance from the working class and its allies. Milei's first defeats, not least on the occasion of his Omnibus law, prove that a militant working-class movement could repel the fascist plague in a way bourgeois parties and political forces in all their shades and hues proved incapable in more than a decade.

There is no middle ground; the 21st century will either belong to the working class united with anti-imperialist forces and youth mobilizations, or the worst horrors of the 20th century will make a comeback with fascism on the rise and Third World War and nuclear annihilation around the corner.

Let us make this May Day an occasion for forging the international bulwarks against imperialist war and fascist plague. Let us make this May Day a historical turning point for the building of the urgently needed revolutionary International.

·      Stop the catastrophe of a World War Three! War against the imperialist war! Out of NATO, smash NATO! Close all US/NATO imperialist military bases!

·      No military and financial aid to the Zelensky puppet regime! For the defeat of NATO in its proxy war in Ukraine!

·      Stop the genocide of the Palestinian people by the Zionist regime of Netanyahu and his fascist allies! Ceasefire NOW. Solidarity in action with the Palestinian people in all countries!

·      Down with Zionism! For the victory of Palestinian Resistance!

·      From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free!

·      For a free, united, democratic and socialist Palestine beyond ethnic, religious and class divisions within a Socialist Federation of the Middle East!

·      Fight the rise of fascism wherever it rears its head!

·      For peace, bread and freedom forward to world socialist revolution!

·      Build the revolutionary International to defeat imperialism!

·      Either Socialism or barbarism and nuclear catastrophe!
